Blow to ASB
Officers from the Longsight and Ardwick Neighbourhood Policing Team struck a crushing blow to antisocial behaviour on the Coverdale Estate last weekend.
Over the last few months residents from the estate have complained to the police and the local council about numerous incidents involving mini motorbikes. The use of bikes was causing great concern and annoyance to local residents and ultimately impacting on their quality of life.
In response to the problem the local Neighbourhood Team have stepped up patrols in the area and seized more than 20 bikes.
The seized bikes were crushed at an event on the Coverdale Estate on Saturday 5 February sending out a strong message to youths who may now think twice before using a bike in the area.
Local residents were invited to attend the event which showed the Force’s commitment to tackling the problem and also gave them an opportunity to meet their local neighbourhood officers.
